Description and history

 ‘Chrysanthemums’ was created in 1879 by Henri Fantin-Latour in Realism style. There are several versions of this artwork, the most popular is the yellow color Chrysanthemums. The original painting is located in Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, you can see and image of the original here:

Henri Fantin-Latour (14 January 1836 – 25 August 1904) was a French painter and lithographer best known for his flower paintings and group portraits of Parisian artists and writers.

About the type of artwork, we can see from the pics that it has a rough surface. However, the roughness is constant, which is typical of a lithograph (Fantin-Latour was a known lithographer). For the case of an original painting, we should see a kind of roughness that matches the colors and resembles brush strokes. However, in this case, the surface is homogeneous, so it wasn’t hand painted. Regarding the signature, this kind of lithograph is called signed in plate, which means the signature is printed. It is clearly a normal lithograph, as it isn’t hand signed or numbered.
